Maurice Taylor

I am an experienced and qualified native English teacher living in Budapest. I have earned the internationally recognised Cambridge CELTA language teaching qualification and have a degree in English. I have been a teacher for many years working in schools, companies and on a private basis. I have taught Business English in multiple companies, including ERSTE Bank Hungary Zrt. and Boehringer Ingelheim.

My lessons:
These are held in a relaxed and student-centred environment using materials and methods tailored to each student's needs. I am a good listener with a non-judgemental attitude to language acquisition. Besides helping students build a solid foundation in the core language areas, I encourage them to speak more naturally through learning idioms, phrasal verbs, common expressions, etc. In other words, I am a kind of guide in the nuances of English language and culture. I also offer commentary and advice on written homework in terms of grammar, use of English, register, style and so on. So if you would like to improve your English at Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced level, prepare for an exam (IELTS, CAE, BME, Origo, B1/B2 State Exam, etc.) or write articles, prepare a CV/motivation letter, apply for a grant/to a school or university, etc, I would be more than happy to help.

My teaching approach:
My aim is to help you develop your practical English skills and - just as importantly - to boost your confidence. To this end, my lessons focus on clear and coherent communication, particularly in speaking and writing. Moreover, I can help 'tone down' your first-language accent through phonetics-based exercises, mirroring and practice. The focus here is on word and sentence stress, speech patterns and rhythm, strong and weak forms/linking sounds, etc, in everyday English.

Kids:
If you are looking for lessons for your children, I focus on fun activities, games and songs tailored to their learning needs, in addition to more traditional methods.

- Exam preparation for both domestic and international exams
- Proofing and copy editing texts in the humanities and sciences
- Medical English
- English for tourists and travellers
- English for the restaurant and hospitality sector
- Culture tips for living and working in the UK
- Pronunciation: 'toning down' first language accent

Charges and conditions:
8000 HUF per 60 minutes. If a student attends 8 lessons in a row, the 9th lesson is free. If 2 students attend lessons together, the charge is 6000 HUF per student per 60 minutes.
I also offer 30 minute/4000 HUF and 60 minute/7000 HUF conversation lessons based on any topic of your choice (books, articles, videos, etc).

I ask for 24 hours notice of cancellation. If a student starts a lesson late, I will try add on at least 5 minutes, though this is at my discretion. If a student cuts a lesson short, the full payment for the agreed on lesson length must be made.
Lessons: one-to-one or in small groups; also via Skype/Messenger.

Szakképzett és tapasztalt anyanyelvű angol tanár Budapesten.
Angol szakos diplomával és CELTS (Cambridge) angol tanári képesítéssel rendelkezem. Számor cégnél
oktattam üzleti angol nyelvet,köztük az ERSTE Banknál és a Boehringer Ingelheimnél.
Akár alap-, közép- vagy felsőfokon szeretné fejleszteni angoltudását, nyelvvizsgára készül (IELTS, CAE,
BME, Origo), CV-t vagy motivációs levelet szeretne írni, ösztöndíjra pályázik angol nyelven, stb.,
örömmel segítek. Az óráimon a gyakorlati angoltudás fejlesztése a cél, illetve az angolul való
beszélgetéssel kapcsolatos önbizalom fejlesztése. Az óráimon ezért a világos és érthető szóbeli és
írásbeli kommunikációra összpontosítok. Szintén figyelek az idegen akcentus csökkentésére célzott
fonetikai gykorlatokkal. Ezen belül elsősorban a szavak és mondatok helyes hangúlyozására,
intonációjára figyelek, illetve a nyelv ritmusára, az összekapcsoló hangokra, stb.
Gyerekek számára is tartok órákat, ahol a hagyományos módszerek mellett játékokkal, dalokkal, játékos
feladatokkal dolgozunk, egyéni igényeknek megfelelően.
Egyéni és csoportos órákat is tartok, online Skype-on és Messengeren is.
Óradíj: 8000 Ft/60 perc.
